Insert the deadbolt
latch into the 7/8" (22 mm) hole in the door edge. Make
sure the Schlage logo is facing up. Fasten the latch
to the door with 3/4" (19 mm) wood screws.
Installing the strike assembly.
Place the reinforcer with the holes for 3" screws on
the door stop.
Mark and drill 3/16" (5 mm) holes for 3" (76 mm) reinforcing
screws.
Install the reinforcer,
strike box and deadbolt strike.
Size the driver bar.
Measure the thickness
of the door.
Check the chart to match the bar size to the correct
door thickness.
Break the bar at the correct location as shown.
Prepare for lock installation.
Extend the bolt
through the bolt hole.
Insert the control
key into the core, rotate the key 15 and remove
the core from the housing.
Align the driver
as shown.
Install the lock.
Place the steel
balls in the screw holes as shown.
Place the metal
shield in the hole. Note: Do not use the shield
in installations with pre-drilled holes.
Place the cylinder and ring onto the door with the cylinder
bar through the slot in the deadbolt cam.
Install the mounting plate.
Place the mounting plate
in position and secure with screws.
Install the thumbturn.
Important: The cylinder
bar, thumbturn and driver must be in the correct position
for lock operation. When correct, the thumbturn will
retract the bolt, but not extend it.
Position the thumbturn
at an angle toward the door edge. Install the driver
so that the pointed lugs are horizontal.
Fasten the thumbturn with screws.
Replace the core.
Push the core back into
the housing as far as it will go. Turn the control key
clockwise 15, then push the core completely into
the lever. Turn the control key back to the vertical
position and remove it.
