Installing Schlage B300 deadbolts |
| |
-
|
Keep the bolt retracted.
|
-
|
Insert the deadbolt latch
into the 7/8" (22 mm) hole in the door edge. Make sure
the word "top" is facing up. Fasten the latch
to the door with 3/4" (19 mm) wood screws. |
- If you have a 2 1/8" (54 mm) hole, fit
the adapter ring to the cylinder unit. If you have a 1 1/2"
(33 mm) hole, you do not need the adapter ring.
-
|
Place the outside
cylinder unit into the hole on the outside of the door with
the "Schlage" logo facing up. Adjust the round
pin to fit into the correct backset slot (2 3/8" and
2 3/4" -- 60 mm and 70 mm). The flat driver bar should
be underneath the latch. |
-
|
For a double cylinder deadbolt,
push the inside cylinder unit and the outside cylinder unit
together, aligning the driver bar slot with the flat driver
bar. When properly installed, both sides will stay in place.
|
-
|
For a single cylinder deadbolt,
position the thumbturn onto the cylinder bar. Use the thumbturn
to partially retract the bolt so that the thumbturn is vertical.
|
- Insert mounting screws and tighten to a snug fit. Do not over-tighten.
Test the lock for smooth operation. If the deadbolt does not slide
smoothly, loosen the screws, check the horizontal alignment of
the "Schlage" logo and adjust the outside cylinder unit
as necessary.

Installing the strike assembly.
Place the reinforcer with the holes for 3" screws toward
the door stop. Mark and drill 3/16" (5 mm) holes for
3" (76 mm) wood screws. Install the reinforcer, strike
box and deadbolt strike. |
